54/200: The Five Year Engagement

This is one of the longest & funniest films I have ever seen. That’s not saying much because I think it’s also a sad movie but they pulled it off with the jokes & the Jason Segel-isms, also Emily Blunt’s British humor. I loved the movie. I loved the characters, the story was you know, a bit dragged. For a bit I really thought it was about Violet’s character having progress & Tom is downward spiral. I think you guys should see this. It’s so hilarious. Cynthia got weak with the jokes!

50-52/500: Cabin In The Woods, Think Like A Man, Unofficially Yours

Last week I watched these 3 movies. I must admit they were really good! Cabin In The Woods, OH MY GOODNESS I have never seen a movie like that in the history of forever. It’s so interesting in a such a level that will make you ask “WHAT THE F***?”. Not even kidding bro. I liked how it all went down though. I refuse to see another movie like this for real. After seeing Cabin, Kim & I headed to see Think Like A Man, this movie is legit! Hilarious in all levels, but a little too long. It’s kinda sexist, but in a very light & humorous way. Kevin Hart stole the show! I liked Taraji P. Henson & Regina Hall! Funny ladies! Lastly, Unofficially Yours, a movie I wanted to see last February, only got the chance now. I thought I’ll never like it but oh boy did they prove me wrong. The acting was better than the story. 2 great actors: JLC & Angel Locsin FTW!

48-49/200: 21 Jump Street, The Lucky One

Since The Avengers movie has not came out yet in this part of the world, I took it upon myself to watch these 2 mainstream movies last week. I think the money I paid was definitely worth it. For 21 Jump Street, WHICH I THINK SHOULD NOT BE MISSED, is absolutely hilarious. It’s so good it actually hurt my jaw, couldn’t stop laughing legit! Never heard so much “motherfucker”, “fuck”, “stupid” in one movie. I liked Channing Tatum in this + Ice Cube was great! The Lucky One, HMMMM? What can I say? You know I love this kind of movies right? Hahaha. I think the movie goers went to see Zac Efron & not the premise that this story gave out on its trailer. I think this movie was a bit dragged, but then there were moments that had me almost balling + legitimately feeling sad. I actually loved it.

45-47/200: Retreat, Man on A Ledge, Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank

Retreat was slightly boring at first then picks up in a very interesting way by the middle that I actually was so nervous about that I didn’t actually finish it. When I read the synopsis I told myself “Figured that out already”. It’s pretty psycho. Man On A Ledge was another interesting film, one man threatens the passers by that he will jump from the ledge while his brother is stealing a diamond just right across the building. My question is “WHY SAM WORTHINGTON?”. Bad acting. Anyway, lastly I got to see ANG BABAE SA SEPTIC TANK. I honestly expected a different movie, I dunno cause I didn’t read anything about it before I just found out the hype around that movie. I say that talents were bigger than the storyline which is something refreshing & different. It was funny. Eugene Domingo is a class act. These 3 films were really good in their own unique ways.

41-44/200: Superbad, Bridesmaids, An Invisible Sign, Midnight in Pars

Yes, I’m back reviewing my movies! Yayyyy. These by the way, were movies I have watched a week ago when I was still in Manila, and one on the plane to Toronto. Let’s start. Superbad was stupid, funny, and everything in between. I can’t say I loved it but it’s a fun movie. Bridesmaids, I JUST HAD TO REPEAT IT AGAIN! I watched it with my cousins Ina & Bea…made them lol so much. An Invisible Sign was this different, quirky, borderline dull yet refreshing movie that stars Jessica Alba. Her acting there was sooooo interesting. Not something I would expect, also Chris Messina, CHRIS MESSINA MAN. Lastly, we got this filmfest gem, MIDNIGHT IN PARIS, which I would say was amazing, in all levels you could think of. I didn’t know that it was like that all along! I never seen the trailer too. I really liked it. Probably will go down as one of my favorites.

37-40/200: Good Deeds, Lost in Paradise, Disney’s Prom, Life in A Day

It’s that time again! I happen to have watched these movies the past few days, except for one: Life in A Day which I watched already a month a go but I kept waiting for the right time to post, never really had the chance. Ansnyway, here we go: Good Deeds was, I’ll say a really good movie about realizations, career-wise & life-wise, it was also indulgent (e.g Tyler Perry) but may I just say, Thandie Newton actually redeemed this movie. She’s an amazing actress. There was that one final scene that broke my heart to pieces. Life In A Day, which is a documentary, follows what people all over the world do in a single day. It’s a beautiful piece of everything that is real today. I never actually knew or even thought about how things are like in the other parts of the world. This made me realize it. I’m so glad I watched it. Prom, was a light & alright movie. It’s Disney, so I guess it’s for teens, and it worked in many ways. Girl, guy, high school prom date, misadventures, kissing. That’s about it. Finally we had this Vietnamese film called, Lost in Paradise. I had to take a different route with my movie watching, since I’ve only been watching mainstream films. It’s so refreshing yet I found it very real too. Of course, subtitles were able to help me, I didn’t quite finish the movie but I had thoughts on how it’ll end.

33-36/200: ATM, After.Life, Vanishing on 7th Street, Season of the Witch

Well I’m growing fond of thrillers now that’s for sure. Here are my 2 cents on each movie: Vanishing on 7th Street was about a group of people trying to survive & stay in the light in a city filled with darkness. It was kind of boring actually. There was some kind of shock effect but that didn’t help at all. Season of the Witch was I think, if I’m not mistaken, since I slept through the whole movie (except the first part which was gripping): was mostly about beliefs. I didn’t like it. ATM, I think is gotta be my favorite of all these 4 films. It’s sorta like Phone Booth (my cousin & classmate told me), I found it interesting but the finale was not justified. It was nice to see Josh from Drake & Josh venture out to thriller movies. After.Life was interesting, it was also dull because it had a lonely atmosphere, even the music couldn’t save it. The actors were great, with a story like that. It kind of worked I guess?

32/200: The Hunger Games

Okay okay I’m sorry for the late review entry. I think everybody here on tumblr has that obligatory Hunger Games post & this is my 2 cents for the movie I watched with Jaypee & Cess! Two of my closest, most badass friends & fellow tumblr bloggers too. Ansnyway, the beginning of the movie was alright, of course the story was building up & whatnot. When Katniss volunteered to be a tribute for her sister that was when I got all “okay, this is legit rocking right now”. Then all the way to the arena, some parts I fell asleep at but nonetheless, was able to catch up with every important scene. The fight for survival was soooo way above average, I really liked it you know. I just don’t think Josh Hutcherson is the right fit for Peeta. But he proved me wrong kind of? I need to give him more credit. Jennifer Lawrence & Liam Hemsworth were terrific. Loved the supporting cast! Stanley Tucci, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Woody Harelson FTW!

28-31/200: The Switch, Paranormal Activity 3, Love & Other Drugs, Messengers 2

Watched these 4 movies the past weekends, I must say I’m glad that I get to watch more movies here while on vaca too! I’ll make it short & simple for the reviews.

Messengers 2 was as equally thrilling as it is lackluster. There were some scenes where I was covering my eyes, and some people felt the jones in their bones. The Switch was awesome, I loved how it’s not full on comedy but also a dramatic portrayal of 2 best friends dealing with issues in their lives, hence the female character’s son out of a sperm donation. Love & Other Drugs was a movie I watched by myself in the theatres back in 2010, it was sexy, witty but a very long movie. I actually liked the you know what scenes, beautiful people. Paranormal Activity 3 was just, I CAN’T EVEN. I’M SORRY.

27/200: Scream 4

Never been a fan of horror psycho killer movies, and probably never will. But I watched this with Thea, Quennie, Dy & Cess for fun & because 25 peso movies are kind of trending in Manila so we gave it a try. So many young actresses in this movie with very little screentime. But let’s get one thing, straight: It’s been a decade since the last Scream movie & they decided to make another one, which the only purpose is to give people the thrills & chills to make em scream! I say it worked! But the story is kinda bad. So bloody, so gory. My friends & I couldn’t help but laugh everytime there’s a chase scene or whatnot. I love Hayden Panettiere. It was refreshing (or otherwise) to see Emma Roberts with that role.

24-26/200: Miss You Like Crazy, Abduction, Super 8

This is mostly what I did for the weekend, also hung out with my friends after their thesis defense. I think these 3 are pretty badass movies. So let’s start.

Miss You Like Crazy was a film I watched 2 years ago, and it happened to be on TV yesterday morning so I gave it a chance again, plus, I miss this movie because it had such a very strong story, with lots of tearjerking moments I tell you. So glad I watched it again because it was as if I was seeing for the first time. Abduction, on the other hand was our pick when me & my friends hung out at the mall, since they were showing old movies for a cheaper price, and we haven’t seen this one yet so there. It was boring at first but the action built up, I really liked it at some parts but there was just little material that they prolonged. Now for the blockbuster which is Super 8, which I watched just this morning, I wanted to see it last summer but there were so many other good ones so I skipped this one. I loved that kids ruled this movie & their curious & imaginative minds made them discover something big & chaotic. Very thrilling at most parts, story was good & overall I can say I’m a fan. P.S: THE KYLE CHANDLER was part of it.

23/200: One For The Money

Watched this last week with Abigail, it was a fun nyi nyi nyi movie. It’s about a broke, jobless girl who finds light at the end of tunnel by being a bounty hunter, little did she know that there’s more to just chasing criminals, especially if it’s a guy whom you had a relationship with. I loved how there was a narration because I couldn’t understand some speaking parts, but the whole story of it all built up & I was able to catch up. Action-packed & funny this movie is.

22/200: Young Adult

I enjoyed this a lot! I believe it reflected how a lot of people are actually living their lives, especially the one who are in the 32-37 age bracket, that time of your life, you notice everything runs dry, either you’re single or just started a family. Maybe it’s also for the people who reached their peak way too soon in high school & after that everything just fell to pieces. So, for the movie: the story is quite cliche but with performances like Charlize’s & Patton Oswalt’s, it’s definitely an easy thing to forget that. I’m in awe of their natural ability to just play a regular person! Scenes are not boring, this movie is absolutely a favorite!

20-21/200 Forget Me Not, A Nightmare on Elm Street

Finally reached 1/10 of my movie watching project! Oh boy I’ve got a long way to go. ANSNYWAYS, how about 2 horror films? One I watched with a friend at an SM Cinema for 25 bucks (how cheap yet so much fun), then another with my friends when they slept over at our place. First one, Forget Me Not or Revenge of the College Ghost, yeah it had that alternate title. LMAO. I think it had such an interesting plot, that is when the kids get killed, the remaining cast tends to actually not remember anything about them. The apparitions were crazy scary!! The next movie, A Nightmare on Elm Street that we watched was obviously the remake so I guess it was already a bad movie before we even decided to see it but we did anyway. I did not watch it with focus, because it was way too bloody for my taste.
